Data sources & methodology

Institutional Analytics treats important figures as sourced facts, not model inventions. Calculated metrics are labeled with a formula. If a dataset is not in this list, it is not an active product integration.
SEC EDGAR
Provider: U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Type: company filings, ownership filings, structured XBRL Company Facts, and registered-fund N-PORT disclosures when present.
- Update frequency: filings as published; cached facts refresh about daily, ownership about every six hours when requested, 13F about weekly.
- Reporting lag: 13F, N-PORT, and many ownership forms are lagged. They are not real-time positions.
- Reported vs calculated: income, balance sheet, and cash-flow line items are reported XBRL facts. Margins, FCF, and growth rates are calculated in application code (formula version v1).
- Limitations: issuers use different XBRL concepts; a missing line means it was not mapped from Company Facts, not that the company has no such activity. Forms 3/4/5 include grants and option exercises that are not open-market sentiment.
Financial Modeling Prep
Provider: Financial Modeling Prep (FMP). Type: quotes and price history, vendor fundamentals snapshots, earnings calendar/estimates, and earnings-call transcripts.
- Update frequency: quotes are cached (about five minutes); other snapshots about daily when a workspace is opened.
- Limitations: free-tier quotes may be delayed. Transcripts are an FMP product, not EDGAR, unless a transcript is separately filed as an SEC exhibit.
- Reported financials in the Research tab prefer SEC Company Facts over FMP when both exist.
Finnhub
Provider: Finnhub. Type: company news, press releases, and sell-side recommendation / target consensus when configured.
- Not a live exchange price feed.
- Consensus figures are vendor aggregates, not Institutional Analytics ratings.
FRED
Provider: Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis FRED® API. Type: selected macroeconomic series. Original sources include the Federal Reserve, BLS, BEA, Census, Treasury, and the Employment and Training Administration, identified on each series.
- Update frequency: cached observations, typically refreshed about daily when a workspace needs them.
- Observation dates are the latest published period, not a live print.
- Series whose underlying owners restrict commercial redistribution (for example some credit-spread indexes) are not included.
This product uses the FRED® API but is not endorsed or certified by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. FRED API Terms of Use.

What we do not show as live prices
The public marketing site uses labeled illustrative issuers and does not display live market prices. In the research application, prices appear only when FMP is configured. We do not scrape Yahoo Finance, Google Finance, Bloomberg, or similar websites.
